Parliament-Funkadelic

Parliament-Funkadelic is soul, rock and music collective that is led by George Clinton. The style of this group is referred to as P-Funk. The group has collectively since 1960s under different names. Collectively, the Parliament-Funkadelic has been known for striking live performances, bizarre concept albums, politically charged librettos and high-notch musicianship. The group influenced post-punk and post-disco music of the late 1970s, 1980s and 1990s.

Parliament-Funkadelic originated from the parliament group of the doo-wop. This group was founded in Plainfield, New Jersey in the 1950s. The two groups, Funkadelic and Parliament, under the leadership of Clinton operated early in the 1970s.they operated concurrently and contained similar steady musicians who played various music funks for two labels. The term Parliament-Funkadelic came as a result of the continuous and stable bands that were played at Clinton’s dwelling. In the early 1980s, the collective band has grown to dozens of musicians who recorded and toured under various solo projects and group names. Between 1967 and 1983, the collective achieved several hits in the United States R and B Charts.

Funkadelic is a stench band with that has a psychedelic rock touch. Funkadelic’s influences comprise of the amplifier hums of Coasters' humor, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Frank Zappa's and James Brown's blues and funk among others. On the other hand, Parliament is an R & B/funk band that influences the Teenagers, Sly Stone, Hendrix, Rufus Thomas and Frankie Lymon. During the 1980s, Clinton united the collective’s manifold projects. Therefore, the group performed under the name George Clinton & the P-Funk All-Stars, or George Clinton & Parliament-Funkadelic. However, some of the original members of the Parliament group prefer performing under the "Original P". In 1997, 16 members of the Parliament-Funkadelic inaugurated to the Rock & Roll of the Fame. The breakout fame of Parliament-Funkadelic caused the extensive use of the word "P-Funk" to define what is currently considered being music genre in its own right.
