Pablo Picasso was born in Malaga, Spain; in 25 October 1881.Picasso was a famous painter, sculptor, ceramist, printmaker, and stage designer. Despite his Spanish origin, most of his life Picasso spent in France. The most significant influence the painter had on well-known Cubist movement, co-invention of collage, and many other styles on which he caused a significant impact. Picasse is well-known by his innovative and brave approaches in creation, where he combined different styles and made revolution in painting during the 20th century. Color is a significant element in his works that helped to express the artists’s ideas in more bright and innovative way.  For instance, Picasse had his famous ‘blue period’ wich gave a birth to such famous paintings like Young acrobat on a ball. Picasse also had a rose period, where he used orange and rose colors. However, the most significant period was Cubism. In this style he used monochrome brownish and neutral colours. He was also inspired by African culture, and classicism and surrealism
Picasso divided his life between Barcelona and Paris, and was involved in bohemian life of these cities. Several times he was married and had four children.  Pablo Picasso died in Mougins, France, on 8 April 1973.

2- Formal Analysis

Young acrobat on a ball was one of the most significant works of Pablo Picasso, and referred to blue period. The picture was drawn in 1905, and became of his most famous. The inspiration came in Paris, when Picasso visited several times the Cirque Medrano. That time many impressionists have been already interested in cirque themes, however Picasso had more profound view. His works on one hand referred to fantasy and creation, and seriousness on the other hand. This painting had a meaning, where the artist is willing to reflect the life of the artist. In Young acrobat on a ball he combined fun with melancholia, where cirque motives represent an entertainment side of the life, however blue color adds a sad motifs into his works. The artist represents fun theme related to cirque, but also reminds that cirqus community has a social out-casting. Blue colors represent the viewers seriousness and sad motifs in Picasso’s works. On the picture there arev two main personalities, and they drawn in different ways. The main figure is a young, thin, and gaunt female acrobat. Her moves are round, and reflect the shape of the ball. The second figure is opposite and represents a muscular man. This figure has a square muscular form, and interrelated with cubed and solid seat. The figure of a girl reflects a playfull character of the artist, and he used this figure in his other works such as The Family of Saltimbanques. As it was mentioned above, the picture referred to blue period of Picasso, where the main visual effects were energetic lines, perfect form, and sense of volume. This picture mostly referred to such art movement as Fauvism that was popular in 20th century France. In this picture, Picasso also used other colors such as pinky tones from Rose period. However, grey and black colors in combination of blue color represent a melancholic mood of the artist. The main benefit of this picture is how the artist represents the movement. The issue is that figures on the picture cause the impression of real performance in cirque. The picture is lively, and the artist reflected the entertainment sense adding notes of melancholie. Blue color is the most significant feature of the picture that adds a mood of mystery and fascination into the work. Perfect forms of figures, precise lines, and fascinating blue color in Young acrobat on a ball, represents how the artist can combine different styles and use the color in his works.
